Middlebrook Pool Facility Overview

The Middlebrook pool house is located at 16203 Dunmoor. Middlebrook does not assign tags for pool use - residents simply sign in at the entrance desk. Note that the Middlebrook pool is closed on Tuesdays for cleaning. However, Middlebrook has a reciprocal agreement with Brookforest for our residents to use their pool, which is cleaned on Thursdays.

The Middlebrook Board of Directors renewed the contract for Poseidon Pools to serve as our pool management company for 2008. Bryce Smith, head of Poseidon Pools, is committed to providing safe and fun water recreation for Middlebrook residents and guests.

Pool patrons will be happy to know that we have ordered additional lounge chairs for the pool deck. They will be available at the start of the swim season.

Middlebrook Pool Facility Rules
General Information
The following Middlebrook pool facility rules were defined by the Middlebrook Community Association Board of Directors and are subject to change as deemed necessary to promote the safety and enjoyment of Middlebrook residents and guests. Many of the pool rules are derived from national, state and county health codes that the Middlebrook Board of Directors and the contracted pool management company are required to uphold. For the purposes of these rules, the term "pool facility" includes both the pool house and the swimming pool area bounded by the fence.

The Middlebrook and Brook Forest communities are operating under a reciprocal agreement for the use of pool facilities. The Middlebrook pool is closed for cleaning on Tuesdays. The Brook Forest pool is closed for cleaning on Thursdays.

Please check the Middlebrook web site for information on the pool facility and the pool management company.

Please contact the Middlebrook Board of Directors if you have any questions or comments regarding these rules or their enforcement that cannot be satisfactorily resolved by the pool management company.

Rules Enforcement
The Board of Directors contracts with a pool management company to provide lifeguard and pool maintenance services. The pool management company is responsible for enforcing the pool rules and ensuring the safety of residents and guests utilizing Middlebrook pool facility. Residents and guests, both adults and children, must respect the authority of the lifeguards and other representatives of the pool management company at all times. Parents and guardians are expected to discuss the pool rules with their children prior to visiting the pool.

Please contact the Middlebrook Board of Directors if you have any concerns regarding pool safety, the enforcement of pool rules, or the performance of the pool management company.

Special Needs
We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate residents with special needs. Please contact the pool manager or the Middlebrook Board of Directors if you require special assistance.

Pool Facility Rules

  1. Middlebrook does not currently issue pool tags, but residents must sign in at the lifeguard station prior to entering the pool area.
  2. Guests at the pool are allowed only when accompanied by a resident.
  3. All children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 16 years of age or older. Guardians must stay at the pool with the child and actively watch the child. Reading, sleeping and/or sunbathing does not qualify as watching the child.
  4. Any child that is unable to swim or uses arm floaties or other flotation devices as an aid must be within arms reach of a parent or guardian at all times. Floaties or other flotation devices are not allowed in the deep end of the pool.
  5. Lifeguards and other pool management staff are expected to be friendly and respectful to pool patrons. In return, pool patrons are expected to treat the lifeguards and pool staff with respect at all times in order to enable them to effectively perform their duties. Lifeguards have the authority to expel or ban any person from the pool facility.
  6. Time outs are one option that lifeguards may employ to discipline children who violate the rules. If a lifeguard feels that it is necessary to place a child in time out, then the child is expected to immediately take the time out as directed by the lifeguard. If a child leaves the pool facility rather than immediately fulfilling a time out, then the child still owes the time out at the next visit to the pool, regardless of the time that has elapsed between his/her visits to the pool.
  7. Patrons should not talk excessively with the lifeguards on duty, nor distract lifeguards from their work assignments.
  8. Under no circumstances will anyone be allowed on the lifeguard stands other than lifeguards employed or being trained by the pool management company.
  9. Swimsuits are required - no cut-offs, street clothes, or thong swimsuits. Tee shirts are acceptable for protection from the sun.
  10. No person having an open cut, bandage, plaster cast, infectious disease (e.g., conjunctivitis), or obvious signs of infection will be permitted to enter the swimming pool. For the health of pool patrons, residents and guests with an infectious condition are expected to refrain from using the pool, even when the symptoms of an infection are not visible or obvious to others (e.g., diarrhea).
  11. Weapons of any kind are prohibited in the pool facility.
  12. Alcoholic beverages of any kind are prohibited in the pool facility, except during special events sanctioned by the Middlebrook Community Association Board of Directors.
  13. No glass containers of any kind are permitted in the pool facility.
  14. No eating or drinking is permitted while in the pool.
  15. Residents and visitors are expected to help maintain the cleanliness of the pool facility by properly disposing of trash and by cleaning up their own spills, food debris, etc. Please report any unsanitary conditions in the pool facility to the lifeguards.
  16. No smoking is permitted in the pool facility.
  17. No running, roughhousing or excessively rough play or dunking is permitted in the pool facility. No running jumps into the pool are allowed.
  18. No excessive or disruptive screaming or splashing is permitted in the pool facility.
  19. Language or music that is excessively loud, or is abusive, vulgar, or harassing in nature, is not allowed.
  20. No hard objects (e.g., tennis balls, plastic frizbees, etc.) are allowed in the pool facility. Lifeguards have the authority to remove or ban any object from the pool that is believed to adversely impact the safety of pool patrons, including any object that may obstruct a lifeguard's view of swimmers.
  21. No pets are allowed in the pool facility except for service dogs. However, service dogs are not allowed to enter the pool, itself.
  22. Abuse of pool facilities or furniture is not allowed.
  23. No hanging on ladders or ropes.
  24. Disposable diapers are not allowed in the pool. Rubber or plastic pants over cloth diapers or swimmies are required. The law requires a pool to be shut down and treated in the event of fecal contamination. Please help to protect the health and enjoyment of all pool patrons.
  25. Obey the "No Diving" signs. No diving is allowed except in the deep end of the pool.
  26. Divers are not allowed to wear goggles or flotation devices when diving from the board.
  27. Board divers must wait for the previous diver to reach the side of the pool and begin exiting before starting to dive. Only one person at a time is allowed on the diving board.
  28. In order to use the diving board, a child must be able to swim to the side on his/her own. An adult may wait at the side for a child to dive from the board.
  29. The last ten minutes (approximate) of each hour is designated as adult swim. No one under 18 years old is permitted in the main pool during adult swim. Anyone under 18 years of age must maintain a five-foot clearance from the edge of the main pool during adult swim - no sitting on the edge of the pool or dangling/dipping legs or arms into the water.
  30. Only children six years old or younger are allowed in the baby/kiddie pool. Per rule 3, children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or guardian at all times.
  31. Every patron must shower off at the pool facility prior to entering the pool. This applies to initial entry into the pool facility and after leaving the pool facility and then returning to enter the pool again (e.g., children that leave the pool facility during adult swim to play in the park or playground, then return). Patrons that have applied suntan oil should also shower before entering the pool.
